
TANNER, Ala. - The Indians (2-0) jumped out to a 7-0 before the dust finally settled on the top of the first inning and cruised to an 11-0 win in 5 innings in Game 2 at Calhoun (Ala.) Community College on Tuesday.
Trey DeSantis (Laurel) and Justin Medlin (Ripley) each doubled and scored a run while Kyle Crigger (Corinth), Drew Thomas (Nesbit), Drake Wallace (Amory), Kyle Weaver (Courtland) and Connor Lewis (Corinth) also scored in the first inning.
The Indians added four more runs in the top of the fourth after a bases-loaded triple by Wallace and a single by Lewis gave invoked the 10-run mercy rule after Klay Houston (Fulton) walked one in a hitless bottom of the fifth to close out the game.
Wallace finished 3-for-4 with 4 RBI and 2 runs scored while Lewis added a pair of singles with Thomas adding a single and double to the Indians' 10 hits in the win.
Houston Harding (Walls) picked up the win after scattering 5 hits in 4 scoreless innings of work in his collegiate debut.
The win was Coach Collier's 498th win as head coach of the Indians.
The Indians are scheduled to be back in action for their home opener on Friday against Snead State (Ala.) Community College – weather permitting.
