
Indians shut out Hinds to earn series split

FULTON, MS – After dropping game on of the series, Itawamba Community College shut out Hinds Community College in game two, 7-0, behind a three hitter by JT Salter (Bay Minette, AL) Saturday night.
The Indians (30-14, 17-11 MACJC) were in a pitcher's duel in the early frames but Salter began getting run support in the third as Ben Seay (Mooreville) scored on sacrifice fly by Hagan Box (French Camp).
Russ Payne (Fulton) doubled the Indians lead with a solo home run to left in the fourth and in the fifth, Kaleb Barnes (Pontotoc) scored on a passed ball and Bryan Malone (Belmont) singled home a run to extend the lead to 4-0.
The Indians added three runs in the bottom of the sixth on runs scoring singles by Austin Carpenter (Belmont) and Barnes.
After the Indians took the lead, Salter continued to deal as he held the Eagles to only three hits and struck out nine while facing only 26 batters in the seven inning affair.
The 7-0 game two win clinched home field for the Indians in the best of three playoff series that is set to begin Thursday, Mat 11.
