Indians fall to Hinds in game one

FULTON, MS – Itawamba Community College led by two after three innings, but Hinds Community College scored five unanswered to pick up the 7-4 game one win Saturday.
The Indians (29-14, 16-11 MACJC) fell behind in the first as Hinds plated two runs but Tyreque Reed (Houlka) cut the lead in the half in the bottom of the frame with a solo home run.
In the bottom of the second, the Indians tied the game as Russ Payne (Fulton) scored on a passed ball and took the lead on a run scoring ground out by Kaleb Barnes (Pontotoc).
Reed extended the lead to 4-2 as he homered again in his second bat of the day in the third.
Hinds plated four runs over the next two frames to take a 6-4 lead and added an insurance run in the eighth to pick up the game one win.
Reed finished game one going 2-for-2 with two home runs, two walks and a hit by pitch. Payne was the only other Indian with multiple hits as he went 2-for-4 with a run scored.
