MOORHEAD, MS – An outstanding pitching performance by Stephon Moore (West Point) and a clutch hit by Tyreque Reed (Houlka) gave the Itawamba Community College baseball program its first conference series sweep with the 2-1 come from behind game two win over Mississippi Delta Community College Wednesday.

The Indians (19-15, 7-11 MACJC) trailed early as the Trojans took advantage of first inning error by Moore, but the freshman pitcher was lights out the rest of the contest. Moore's only other mistake came in the fourth inning when he allowed his only hit of the contest, but he forced a fly ball to keep the Trojans lead at 1-0.

After being held hitless for three innings, the Indians capitalized on Trojan mistake by playing small ball in the top of the seventh. Ty Wheeler (Tupelo) led off the inning by reaching on a dropped third strike and Bryan Malone (Belmont) followed with a sacrifice bunt to put the tying run in scoring position.

Drake Rowton (Marion, AR) drew a walk after the Trojans made their first pitching change in the contest. With the go ahead run at first, Reed wasted little time at the plate and hit a double to left center that allowed both runners to score and give the Indians a 2-1 lead.

The lead was more than enough for Moore as he struck out the side in the bottom half of the seventh to pick up the win and complete the sweep.

Moore struck out nine in seven innings of one hit baseball to earn his first win of the season.

The Indians continue their push for the playoffs Saturday when they host Southwest Mississippi Community College. First pitch for game one at Roy Cresap Field is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. and game two to follow at 5:00 p.m.
