FULTON, MS – In a conference rivalry showdown between Itawamba Community College and Northeast Mississippi Community College, timely hits, walks and errors gave the visiting Tigers a 7-4 game one victory.

The Indians (13-8, 1-4 MACJC) held a 3-1 lead after seven innings, but saw the Tigers score six runs in the final two frames on three hits. In the final two innings, the Tigers drew five walks and took advantage of two errors in the ninth.

With the first two batters on base, the Tigers (11-12, 2-3 MACJC) drew back-to-back walks to plate a run and load the bases. Then timely hits from Andrew Lambert and Bailey Walker drove in a pair of runs that would prove to be too much to overcome.

The Indians, whose two run lead turned into a one run deficit in the eighth, didn't go down without a fight as Timothy Rowe (Hernando) tied the contest with a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth.

With two outs in the ninth, Russ Payne (Fulton) reached on an error and Keith Stepter (Hernando) drew a walk to give the Indians a chance to tie the game and force extra innings. However, they were unable to push a run across in their final at bat as a pop up to third ended the threat and that game.

The Indians outhit the Tigers 15-7 in game one, led by Rowe who finished 3-for-5 with a double, a home run and two RBI, but they were unable to pick up the timely hits, leaving 15 on base.

Hagan Box (French Camp) picked up three hits in the contest as well going 3-for-6 with an RBI and two runs scored.
