FULTON, MS – A Timothy Rowe (Hernando) grand slam powered Itawamba Community College to a 10 run first inning and a 13-1 run-rule victory over Williams Baptist on Thursday.
In the offensive explosion in the opening frame, the Indians (7-1) got run production for Drake Rowton (Marion, AR) who plated a run on a sacrifice fly, and a three run scoring double by Austin Carpenter (Belmont). Kaleb Barnes (Pontotoc) and Delvin Zinn (Pontotoc) rounded out the scoring with RBI singles.
The Indians added three more runs over the next three innings on hits from Cody Pate (Amory) and Carpenter.
Williams Baptist was able to plate a run in the fourth, but the lead was too big to overcome and the Indians picked up the 13-1 victory.
John Morgan Payne (Belmont) picked up the win to improve to 2-0 as he threw three innings of shutout baseball.
