Indians take Game 1 over Lake Land, 7-2

FULTON, MS - Delvin Zinn (Pontotoc) and Timothy Rowe (Hernando) provided the pop while Trenton Stringer (Stringer) kept the Lake Land Lakes' bats quite in the Indians' Game 1, 7-2, win on Saturday.
Zinn went 3-for-5 with three runs scored and a RBI while Rowe finished the day 3-for-3 with a walk, two doubles, three RBI and a stolen base.
ICC put a pair of runs on the board in the bottom of the first when Zinn and scored on a pass ball before Drake Rowton (Marion, AR) doubled and scored when Tyreque Reed (Houlka) reached on a fielder's choice.
The Indians (8-1) added two more runs in the second inning when Zinn and Rowton scored on a double by Rowe.
ICC added a trio of insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth when Keith Stepter (Hernando) reached on an error and scored on a single by Zinn before Russ Payne (Fulton) doubled and scored on a sac bunt from Rowton. Zinn added the final run of the inning on a double by Rowe.
Stringer (1-0) took care of business on the mound throwing scattering three hits and one walk while striking out five in six scoreless innings of work before being replaced by Kaleb Barnes (Pontotoc) in the seventh.
The Lakers (1-4) picked up a pair of runs in the top of the seventh before Barnes got a fly out to right to close the door on the rally.
