Baseball takes Game 1 over Calhoun, 7-2

FULTON, MS - A two-run triple by Tyreque Reed (Houlka) highlighted a six-run bottom of the first inning in ICC's 7-2 Game 1 victory over Calhoun (AL) Community College on Tuesday.
The Indians (3-0) took a 1-0 lead when Delvin Zinn (Pontotoc) scored on a single by Ty Wheeler (Tupelo) before Reed broke open the inning by driving in Hagen Box (French Camp) and Wheeler after legging out a triple.
Reed went 2-for-4 with a double, triple, 2 RBI and a run scored.
Dalton Hudspeth (Louisville) and Box added a pair of RBI singles to give ICC a 6-0 lead before Calhoun could get out of the inning.
Calhoun (8-6) answered with a pair runs to cut the lead to 6-2 in the top of the third.
Kaleb Barnes (Pontotoc) drove in Cody Pate (Amory) to push the Indians' final margin of victory to 7-2 in the first of two games on the afternoon.
Pate went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles with a run scored.
JT Salters (Bay Minette, AL) picked up his first win of the season after giving up two runs, both earned, on three hits four walks and one hit batter in three innings of work. Jonas White (Lewisburg) closed the door on the Warhawks rally throwing four innings of scoreless baseball and allowing only three hits.
