FULTON, MS – Sophomore right-handed pitcher TJ Watson (Dallas, GA) signed a National Letter of Intent to play baseball for the University of West Georgia.
"I'm excited to go back home," said Watson, whose hometown is 30 miles north of West Georgia. "It will be nice to play in front of my family more often."
Watson finished his final season in red and blue with a 6-6 record and a 3.93 ERA. He led the Indians in strikeouts with 67 in 68 and two thirds innings of work.
"I had a great two years here (ICC)," said Watson. "The coaches had a lot of faith in me and threw me into the fire and I tried to answer the call as best as possible."
As a freshman, Watson was 6-4 with a 5.93 ERA, 63 strikeouts in 54 and two thirds innings and had a 1.00 fielding percentage.
"TJ has been a blessing to our program the past two years," said ICC Pitching Coach Justin Bryant. "He was our main pitcher and whatever role we need him to fill he's always answered the call and we are excited to see him continue his career."
West Georgia is a NCAA Division II school located in Carrollton, GA and is a member of the Gulf South Conference. Last season, the Wolves finished 33-15 and one game short of the GSC title game.
