FULTON, MS – Sophomore centerfielder Tanner Poole will take his talents to Starkville next season to continue his baseball career at Mississippi State University.
"It's a good opportunity," said Poole. "I've always wanted to play there and I couldn't be happier to have the opportunity to play SEC baseball."
The Amory native led the Indians in numerous offensive categories last season hitting .378 in the leadoff spot with 12 doubles, four triples, six home runs, 46 runs and 39 RBI.
"Tanner has been a big asset for us," said ICC Head Coach Rick Collier. "He has ran down every ball in centerfield from gap-to-gap and he's an exceptional young man who also took care of business in the classroom."
Poole earned Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) All-State team and National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-Region 23 honors for his standout sophomore year, and was named MACJC Player of the Week in the final week of the season.
"ICC has been the best two years of my life," said Poole. "Coach Collier and Coach (Justin) Bryant have done so much for me and I've had a blast playing here."
He stole 26 bases to finish in the top 20 nationally and recorded 71 putouts to finished with a .986 fielding percentage.
"He's the first one to field and last one to leave," said Collier. "It will be hard for someone to out play him in centerfield and we're sure going to miss him."
