FULTON, MS – Traditionally, MACJC tiebreakers haven't gone in the favor of the red and blue.
Such was the case on Tuesday when the ICC baseball team learned they would be missing out on the postseason for a second-straight season after coming up on the short end of a three-way tiebreaker with Holmes and Southwest Mississippi on Tuesday.
"I'm proud of these guys," said Coach Rick Collier. "They kept fighting all season long to give us a shot at making the playoffs in the end."
The Indians (19-17, 13-15 MACJC) needed to sweep Co-Lin on Sunday to keep their playoff hopes alive and the guys answered the challenge with 9-1 and 7-1 victories on Sophomore Day at Roy Cresap Field.
"These guys left it on the field and as a coach that's all you can ask," said Collier. "There were a few breaks here and there that didn't go our way that ended up making a difference in the end, but that's just how the game of baseball works sometimes."
Southwest was awarded the No. 8 spot via the tiebreaker and will face top-ranked Hinds in this weekend's best-of-three series in Raymond after rebounding from an 8-4 loss with a 10-9 win in the nightcap against Co-Lin.
