
Indians roll past Pearl River in game one, 11-4

FULTON, MS – Fresh off their first conference sweep of the season, the Itawamba Community College Indians powered their way past the Pearl River Community College Wildcats with an 11-4 victory in game one of the twin bill.
The Indians (11-8, 5-6 MACJC) went up 2-0 after plating a run in the first two innings on a run scoring ground out by Timothy Rowe (Hernando) and RBI single by Brayden Owen (Tupelo).
A three run home run by Derrick Mount in the top of the third put the Wildcats on top, and after leading for three plus innings, the Indians regained the lead with a trio of runs in the sixth.
Sophomore Russ Johnson (Hatley) tied the contest with a double and he later scored on a Bryce Williams (Ridgeland) single up the middle. Owen, who went 3-for-4, picked up his second RBI of the game with a single that score Williams and put the Indians up by two.
Three lead off singles by Hayden Williams (Amory), Seth Young (Olive Branch) and Gable Butler (Iuka) loaded the bases for the Indians in the seventh. The Indians took advantage with a single by Cody Young (Collierville, TN) and a sacrifice bunt by Bryce Williams.
The Indians would add four insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth highlighted by a two run scoring double by Cody Young, who finished game one 3-for-4 with 3 RBI.
The offensive explosion propelled the Indians to their fourth straight victory and gave starting pitcher and Delta State signee Brady Chambley (Winona), who struck out eight in six and two thirds innings, his first win.
