FULTON, MS -- Itawamba Community College sophomore shortstop Tyler Tipton (Shelbyville, KY) has been named Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) Baseball Player of the Week.
Tipton, a University of Kentucky signee, went 7-for-16 with five doubles, four runs, three RBI, and a pair of walks to help the Indians go 3-3 with wins over Rend Lake College, Calhoun Community College and Jones County Junior, which included a two-out double in the bottom of the seventh and scored the tying run to help open the door for William Goss' walk-off single in the Indians' 2-1 victory.
"This is a big honor for Tipton," said ICC head baseball coach Rick Collier. "Last week was a big week for us starting to get something going and hopefully something like this will motivate the team to keep working harder and to keep getting better as the season progresses."
