Itawamba Community College head baseball coach Rick Collier announced four members of the Indians 2012 baseball team has been selected to the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) All-State North team.
Sophomore catcher and Mississippi State signee Zack Randolph (Amory) Zack Randolph, sophomore first baseman and designated hitter Jake Smithey (Pontotoc), freshman pitcher Ben Hudspeth (Tupelo) and freshman outfielder Cody Shrewsbury (Tupelo) earned All-State honors for the Indians.
"These guys worked hard all season long and were big parts in why we were able to have such a successful season," said Collier. "Their work ethic and desire to win was contagious with the rest of the guys on the team and hopefully they helped set the table for bigger and better things in the future of our program."
Along with their All-State selection, Hudspeth and Shrewsbury were named to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-Region 23 team and will be eligible for NJCAA All-American honors.
ICC was the only program in the North and South Divisions to have four players named All-State and the only two players from the North Division selected to the All-Region 23 team.
The Indians (39-13) finished third in last week's NJCAA Region 23 Tournament hosted by LSU-Eunice and came up one win shy of becoming Coach Rick Collier's fourth team in ten years to reach the 40-win mark after spending the entire regular season ranked amongst the nation's Top 10.
