
No. 20 Lady Indians' open season with win over rival

BOONEVILLE, MS – The nationally ranked Itawamba Community College women's tennis squad began their 2015 campaign with an 8-1 win over rival Northeast Mississippi Community College on Tuesday.
In doubles actions, the Lady Indians took two matches with 8-1 decisions and picked up an 8-3 win to sweep the Lady Tigers.
The No. 20 Lady Indians (1-0) continued to dominate the rival to the north in singles competition, winning five of the six matches.
Anna Claire Griffin (Iuka) blanked her opponent winning the match 6-0, 6-0. Taylor Patterson (Munford, TN) and Andria Barnes (Mooreville) picked up wins with 6-1, 6-0 performances.
Aliesha Hudson (Yazoo City) and Ivy Robbins (Pontotoc) put two more notches in the win column, but Northeast was able to pick up one win to keep from being shutout.
The Lady Indians will host Holmes Community College Saturday, March 7 for their first home matches of the season.
