Soccer teams punch their tickets to the playoffs

FULTON, Miss. – The ICC soccer teams clinched their spots in the 2023 Mississippi Association of Community College Conference (MACCC) Playoffs with a pair of wins at Southwest Friday night.

The No. 16 Lady Indians (13-4; 5-4 MACCC) picked up a 2-1 win over Southwest (4-11; 2-8 MACCC) to punch their ticket to the quarterfinals of the playoffs. The Indians (8-5-3; 5-2-3 MACCC) also recorded a 2-1 victory over Southwest (7-4-4; 4-4-2 MACCC) to earn a spot in the quarterfinals.

Melanie Huber (Rickenbach Sultz, Switzerland) and Beth Lloyd (Failsworth, England) each netted a goal in the Lady Indians win. Ian Thomas (Olive Branch) and Russell Brown (New Orleans, LA) picked up a goal each in the Indians victory.

Both squads are scheduled to host Meridian for Sophomore Day on Tuesday.

Seeding for the upcoming playoffs are currently pending the outcome of other matches throughout the conference on Tuesday. A win would go a long way for the Lady Indians and Indians chances of hosting their quarterfinal matches on Saturday, October 28.

The semifinal round is scheduled for Friday, November 3 and the championship matches will be Sunday, November 5 with the location to be determined pending the finish of the regular season. The women's regular season champion will host this year's semifinal and championship matches.

Fans that can't make it to the pitch on Tuesday can watch the matches on LetsGoICCTV.com/red starting with the women's match at 1 p.m. and the men's match at 3 p.m.
