
FULTON, Miss. - The ICC women's soccer team is scheduled to open its season on Friday, Aug. 20, hosting Dyersburg at 2 p.m. With a strong core of returners and strong incoming freshman class, the Lady Indians are primed to make a push toward a return trip to the conference finals.
Defenders Maria Jones (Oxford) and Bella Mathis (Mooreville); forwards Morgan Mitchell (Amory) and Chole Walker (Tupelo); midfielders Cayleigh Jackson (Hoddesdon, England), Kirsty MacGregor (Yorkshire, England), Allison Moore (Mooreville) and Sara Grace Moore (Oxford); and keeper Anna Kate Trost (Oxford) will look to build off the successes from last season.
Forwards Brianna Huckaby (Saltillo), Izzy Boyd (Tupelo) and Jewel Johns (Mooreville); defenders Campbell Kellett (Tupelo), Kiera Melek-Altintas (Stoke-on-Trent, England), Kayla Young (Madison) and Maloy Mitchell (Madison); midfielders Emma Logan (Fulton), Anna Grace Ward (Mooreville), Madison Copeland (Tupelo), Abby Earwood (Tupelo) and Madison Martin (Tupelo) along with Mary Hammock (Tupelo) make up the impressive list of incoming freshmen.
The Lady Indians will face five teams which have earned a spot in the NJCAA DI and DII Preseason Polls. The first is a trio of non-division matches, including at No. 3 Jones on Aug. 27, No. 18 LSU-Eunice on Sep. 4 and No. 15 Daytona State in Pensacola, Fla. They will also have home and away conference matches with No. 2 Holmes and No. 12 East Central.
