Lady Indians surge by Motlow with strong second half

FULTON, Miss. – The Lady Indians used a strong second half offensive performance to pull away for a 4-1 decision over Motlow College.

Ashley Stevens (Amory) scored an unassisted goal in the 29th minute to give the Lady Indians the 1-0 advantage but Ayline Mateos found the equalizer with an unassisted goal of her own a minute later.

Neither team could find the back of the net in the remaining 15 minutes and went into the break tied.

Emily Hayward (Oxford) helped the Lady Indians retake the lead off an assist from Ally Shinall (Oxford) in the 50th minute. Five minutes later, Hayward pushed the lead out to 3-1 off an assist from Grace Joyce (Oxford). Halle Moore (Oxford) sent home the final goal of the match in the 87th minute.

Anna Wesleigh Driskell (Tupelo) had eight saves while allowing her first goal in three matches.

The Lady Indians went unbeaten in September and extended their win streak to eight-straight matches.
