Lady Indians historic season ends in MACJC Championship

Raymond, Miss. – The Lady Indians' season came to a close Tuesday afternoon as they lost a tough battle, 3-1, to No. 16 Holmes in the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) Championship game.

Holmes took an early 2-0 lead with goals at the 7th minute and 19th minute, but Emily Hayward (Oxford) beat the keeper at the 33rd minute to cut the lead to 2-1.

After halftime, Holmes extended their lead on a free kick at the 47th minute, but the Lady Indians continued to battle and took several good shots on net in the final 43 minutes. However, despite their strong effort, the Lady Indians were unable to make a comeback, ending their historic season.

The Lady Indians rewrote the program's history book with the most wins in a season (17), longest win streak (16), advanced to first ever conference championship game and earned a share of the North Division title. Also, the program earned conference player or keeper of the week honors seven times between Ashley Stevens (Amory) and Anna Wesleigh Driskell (Tupelo). Driskell even received national recognition once this season when she was named NJCAA Keeper of the Week.
