Lady Indians defeat Gulf Coast, 4-3

Fulton, Miss. – In a non-division game, the Lady Indians extended their win streak to four, as they defeat Gulf Coast 4-3 Saturday.

The Lady Indians (5-3, 3-1 MACJC North) took an early lead against Gulf Coast as Maisy Sumner (Blackburn, England) headed on it off a corner kick, and the 1-0 lead held until the final seven minutes of the first half.

Gulf Coast tied the game at the 38th minute, but Brittany Mathis (Pontotoc) put the Lady Indians back in the lead a minute later. However, at the 41st and 44th minutes, Gulf Coast found the back of the net and took a 3-2 lead into halftime.

Sarah Whitt (Pontotoc) opened the second half with the equalizer goal at the 47th minute and the Lady Indians broke the tie late in the game as Ally Shinall (Oxford) scored the game winner at the 80th minute.

The Lady Indians carry their four game win streak on the road Wednesday when they travel to Franklin, Tenn. to face Columbia State at 6 p.m.
