
Hester named to All-Mississippi Academic Team

FULTON, MS – Sophomore keeper Kate Hester has been named to the All-Mississippi Academic Team.
The Pontotoc native is a member of the women's soccer team, All-American Marching Band and Wind Band we well as Phi Theta Kappa president and Baptist Student Union Bible Study coordinator. She also serves as youth intern at First Baptist Church of Amory.
Hester was named Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) and National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Goalie of the Week after recording 20 saves on 21 shots on goal. That week she also tied the team record with 15 saves in a single game.
Michaela Cooper of Mantachie; Dixie Priest of Pontotoc; and Margaret Shipley of Blue Springs also represent ICC named to the All-Mississippi Academic Team.
One of the nominees will receive a $1,000 scholarship, but all four will be eligible for additional scholarships.
Each two-year college in Mississippi may nominate two students per campus to the All-USA Academic Team. Nominations are based on academic performance and service to the college and community.
The All-USC Community College Academic Team is presented by USA Today and Phi Theta Kappa. Twenty students will be selected from the state teams from the All-USA College and Community First Teams and will receive a $2,500 cash award and extensive national recognition through coverage in USA Today and usatoday.com.
