MERIDIAN, MS – Mother Nature delayed the start of the 2015 season, but the Itawamba Community College women's soccer program finally got to kick things off Tuesday against Meridian Community College. The Lady Indians came out fighting, but were hit with the tough luck, 4-0 loss.
In the first game under new head coach David Strother, the Lady Indians (0-1) attacked early and often, but the ball wasn't bouncing their way. The Lady Eagles took an early 2-0 lead but the Lady Indians kept firing the ball trying to find the equalizer.
The Lady Indians put together 15 shots against the Lady Eagles with freshman midfielder Katie Foshee (Southaven) leading the way with three. Emily Buster (Prattville, AL), Megan Moorhead (Starkville) and Alyssa Park (Corinth) all chipped in two shots, but the Lady Indians were unlucky and unable to get any of the shots to find the back of the net.
Meridian was only able to get off eight shots, but were able to add two goals in the second half to pick up the 4-0 win.
The Lady Indians will hit the road again Wednesday as they head north to take on the Bryan College JV team in Dayton, TN at 5:00.
