
Lady Indians battle in double overtime tie

The Lady Indians went the distance and then some on the road against Northwest on Tuesday, as the teams battled through regulation and two overtimes before the game ended in a scoreless tie.
In their first meeting this season, Northwest picked up a 2-0 win and had went on to earn a national ranking. The Lady Indians (2-8-1, 0-3-1) held the Lady Ranger scoreless in the first half of their first meeting, but were defeated by two late goals. In Tuesday's North Division showdown, they wouldn't be beat by another late goal.
The Lady Indians held the formerly ranked Lady Rangers to only four shots on goal and keeper Emily Munn (Pontotoc) would stop all of them. With the defense playing strong, the Lady Indian offense had several chances to take the lead.
The Lady Indians had ten shots in the game and seven of them were on goal. Reagan Hern (Columbus) had three shots on goal while Alyssa Kelley (Saltillo), Rebekah Miller (Pontotoc), Rachel Stukenborg (Aberdeen) and Karlee Grisham (Pontotoc) all had one a piece. Despite, the numerous scoring chances The Lady Indians were unable to put one in the net.
At the end of regulation the game went through two overtimes, but with neither team able to get one past the keeper, the game ended in a scoreless tie.
The Lady Indians return home Friday to take on East Central for another North Division match.
