
Softball takes Game 1 over Delta, 18-1

FULTON, MS – The No. 8 Indians scored 18 runs on 18 hits in their 18-1 Game 1 five-inning victory over Mississippi Delta Community College Tuesday.
Alex Brown (Pontotoc) and Bree Thompson (Water Valley) each hit a home run in the Indians' 10-run first inning.
Brown hit a two-run shot and Thompson followed with a grand slam to give the Indians a 6-0 lead over the Trojans (3-26, 0-15 MACJC) with no outs in the inning. The Indians (29-5, 14-3 MACJC) added four more runs in the inning.
ICC added six runs in the bottom of the second inning on doubles from Mary Kansas Sullivan (Houston), Lane Kennedy (Smithville) and Brown along with a single from Kaitlin Bradley (Columbus).
Sheneria Tyes (Baldwyn) and Mamie Hollenhead (Mathiston) drove in runs with back-to-back two-out singles to take an 18-1 lead after three innings.
Brown finished the game with 5 runs batted in. Hollenhead led the Indians' at the plate by going 3 for 4 with one run scored and two RBI.
Cassidy Hardy (Gordo, AL) improved to 5-2 on the year after giving up one earned run on two hits and striking out on in three innings. Taylor Cresap (Fulton) struck out three and gave up two hits in two scoreless innings of work.
