FULTON, MS - Freshman pitcher Carleigh Mills (Kossuth) was a walk away from throwing a perfect game in the Indians' 8-0 five-inning win over Hinds to complete the sweep on Sunday.
After churning out 11 hits in Game 1, the No. 10 Indians' (19-4, 4-2 MACJC) bats stayed hot to help Mills' make quick work of the Lady Eagles (6-15, 3-5 MACJC).
The Indians pushed across three runs in the bottom of the first and fourth innings while squeezing in a run in the second and third innings to invoked the second run-rule victory of the day.
Bree Thompson (Water Valley), Mamie Hollenhead (Mathiston) and Addie Thompson (Hamilton) each had a pair of hits to lead the Indains' 12-hit performance. The Thompson and Thompson connection accounted for four RBI - two each - with Hollenhead and Kaitlin Bradley (Columbus) each scored a pair of runs.
ICC stole a season-high six bases in the win with Bradley, Bree Thompson, Taylor Blevins (Columbus), Lane Kennedy (Smithville), Taylor Thornton (Carrollton) and Sheneria Tyes (Baldwyn) each stealing a base.
Mills struck out six of the 16 batters she faced in five innings of hitless and scoreless work.
