PERKINSTON, MS – A sacrifice fly gave No. 6 Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College a 1-0 game one win over Itawamba Community College Friday.
After five scoreless innings, the Indians (15-3) fell behind as Izzy Werdann hit a fly ball deep enough in the outfield to score the games only run.
In the defensive struggle, the teams combined for only seven hits as Katlin McDuffy (Iuka) and Nora Keehn took care of both lineups for five innings.
Keehn would come away with the win in the tight game as the Lady Bulldogs squeaked past the Indians 1-0. McDuffy suffered her first loss of the season to the nationally ranked Lady Bulldogs but is 6-1 on the year.
Kaitlin Bradley (Columbus) accounted for two of the Indians three hits Friday as she went 2-3 with a double.
