Indians finish strong to defeat Jones, 5-4

ELLISVILLE, MS – In showdown between two nationally ranked foes, Itawamba Community College won the final three singles matches to pick up a 5-4 victory over Jones County Junior College.
To start the day, the Indians took two of the three doubles matches as Chris Shands (New Albany) and Brendan Jobe (Corinth) won No. 2 doubles battle 8-6 and Michael Crotts (New Albany) and Roberto Valadez (New Albany) took No. 3 doubles 8-6 as well.
Jones took a 4-2 team lead after winning the first three singles matches, but the Indians rallied to win the final three as Shands won No. 3 singles 4-6, 6-2, 1-0, Valadez took No. 4 singles 6-2, 6-0 and Crotts clinched the victory with his 6-1, 6-0 win in No. 6 singles.
