Indians down Holmes, 6-3

FULTON, MS - The Indians bounced back from their first loss of the season with a 6-3 victory over the Holmes Community College Bulldogs on Saturday.
ICC (2-1) opened the day by winning two of the three doubles matches with victories in No. 1 and No. 3 play.
The No. 1 duo of Mark Robbins (New Albany) and Brian McDonnieal (Corinth) defeated Owen Taylor and Emmanuel Brooks 8-2 before Lane Brandon (Houston) and Cameron Shumpert (Fulton) battled to an 8-6 win over Fred Johnson and Matthew Dubourg in No. 3 play.
Dexter Clay (Shannon) and Jacob Bozeman (Brookhaven) dropped an 8-6 decision to Corey Warren and Matthew Philley in No. 2 doubles action.
McDonnieal got things going in the right direction with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Brooks in No. 2 singles play before Bozeman defeated Warren 6-1, 6-4 in No. 3 play and Brandon knocked off Dubourg 7-5, 6-4 to help secure the victory for the Indians.
Shumpert battled to earn another point for the Indians with a 13-11 tibreaker after winning the opening the set 6-4 and dropping the second set 3-6 in No. 6 singles play over Johnson.
In No. 1 singles play, Robbins dropped a 6-2, 6-1 decision to Taylor.
Clay's rally in No. 4 action came up short against Philley. Holmes took the opening set 6-3 but Clay bounced back to force an extra set with a 6-3 victory in the second set before falling 10-8 in the tiebreaker.
The Indians will return to the court with back-to-back matches on Friday, March 4 at Hinds Community College and Saturday March 5 at Copiah-Lincoln Community College.
