No. 20 Indians blank rival Tigers

BOONEVILLE, MS – The No. 20 Itawamba Community College Indians traveled to Booneville to open up MACJC play against the rival Northeast Mississippi Community College Tigers.
The Indians (1-2) didn't waste any time in disposing of the Tigers as they cruised to a 9-0 victory.
The day started with doubles action and the duo of Nathaniel Pinkney (Southaven) and Cody Coins (Millington, TN) set the tone picking up an 8-1 win. Mark Robbins (New Albany) and Joseph Summers (Amory) followed suit with an 8-1 win and the McElwain team picked up an 8-5 victory.
Austin McElwain (Corinth) and David McElwain (West Point) had the closest match of the day with their doubles win, but both took care of business quickly in singles action winning 6-0, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-1.
Pinkney and Coins shutout their opponents both winning 6-0, 6-0.
The Indians will host Jones County Junior College on March 2 for the home opener at Johnson-Partlow Courts at 2 p.m.
