GOODMAN, Miss. – The Indians stretched their win streak out to eight-straight games after a pair of road wins over the Holmes Bulldogs on Tuesday.
No. 7 Indians 8, Holmes 0 (5 innings)
Madison Jenkins got it done in the circle and at the plate in the Indians' run-rule victory in game one against the Bulldogs.
The Delta State signee tossed a shutout and only allowed two hits while walking one to improve to 14-1 on the season. She went 3-for-3 from the plate and smashed a two-run home run to help secure the victory.
Haylee Alberson and McKenzie Patterson each had a pair of hits. Alberson, Caroline Clark and Kaya Hays each had a double. Alberson led the team with three RBI.
No. 7 Indians 7, Holmes 4
Patterson stayed hot in the nightcap to help the Indians complete the sweep of the Bulldogs with a 7-4 win in game two.
The sophomore from Corinth went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and a RBI. Connor Stevens and Kara Hays each added a pair of hits. Hays and Alberson each had a double in the win.
Ka'Mya Hampton improved to 14-3 on the season after giving up 2 unearned runs on one hit while striking out three and walking one in four innings. Emily Robinson picked up her ninth save of the season when she closed the door on the Bulldogs' rally after giving up two earned runs on three hits with three strikeouts and one walk in three innings.
ICC will return to Fulton for the regular season finale against Meridian on Friday. The First American National Bank opening pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
There will be a special retirement recognition held at the conclusion of the doubleheader for Coach Andy Kirk. All fans, friends, former players and assistants coaches are invited to attend the games.
