SUMMIT, MS - The No. 9 Indians got just enough run support for freshman pitcher Carleigh Mills (Corinth) to pick up her 12th win of the season and earn a split with Southwest Mississippi Community College with a 2-1 win in the Sunday evening nightcap.
Addie Thompson (Hamilton) drove in Kaitlin Bradley (Columbus) with a two-out single to give the Indians (31-6, 16-4 MACJC) a 2-1 lead in the top of the fourth inning.
Southwest (18-16, 11-9 MACJC) threatened with runners in scoring position in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings but Mills and the Indians got out of the jams to hold on for the one-run conference victory.
Mills improved to 12-1 on the season after giving up one run, unearned, on two hits while striking out six and walking one in the complete game effort.
Bree Harford (Southaven) had a pair of singles as the Indians could only manage seven hits in the contest.
ICC will host East Mississippi Community College (16-14, 11-7 MACJC) on Tuesday before traveling to No. 6 Jones County Junior College (26-5, 15-1 MACJC) on Friday.
