DECATUR, MS - Taylor Thornton (Carrollton) singled and scored on a single by Maura Jane Autry (Holly Springs) before the No. 3 East Central Warriors could collect the final out of Game 2 to escape with a 5-4 victory over the No. 8 Indians.

The Indians had trouble finding the strike zone after committing back-to-back errors in the bottom of the fourth inning to allow the Warriors to push across four runs to take a 4-3 advantage.

ICC issued three bases-loaded walks to allow three runs to score after a questionable call at first erased what both teams thought to be an inning-ending double play.

East Central plated a crucial insurance run to take a 5-3 lead on a two-out double in the bottom of the sixth.

Lane Kennedy (Smithville) got things rolling with a single to start the game and scored on a two-out double by Mamie Hollenhead (Mathiston) in the top of the first. Alex Brown (Pontotoc) drew a walk to start the third and extended the lead to 2-0 on a single by Addie Thompson (Hamilton).

Mary Kansas Sullivan (Houston) laid down a sacrifice bunt and beat the throw after an error by the Warriors. Her courtesy runner Taylor Blevins (Columbus) scored on a throwing error by the catcher to give the Indians an early 4-0 lead.

Hollenhead and Thornton combined for four of the 10 Indians' hits in the loss.

ICC will travel to Meridian Community College (9-21, 6-9MACJC) on Monday and will host Mississippi Delta Community College (3-25, 2-14 MACJC) for the program's annual Breast Cancer Awareness Series.
