FULTON, MS - In Game 2, the Indians shook off a sluggish performance to complete the sweep of the Wildcats with a 4-2 victory and extend their win streak to six games.
ICC got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Lane Kennedy (Smithville) drew a walk to start the inning, stole second before advancing on a sacrifice bunt by Alex Brown (Pontotoc), and scoring on a perfectly executed squeeze play by Kaitlin Bradley (Columbus).
The Indians extended its lead, 2-0, in the third after Kennedy singled, stole second, and advanced to third on a sac fly to right by Bradley. After drawing a six-pitch walk, Mamie Hollenhead (Mathiston) drew a throw to second and reached safely after the Wildcats missed the tag at the plate after a great slide by Kennedy.
Pearl River got a run back in the top of the fourth and ICC answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Kennedy started the inning by drawing her third walk of the contest and scored on a sac fly by Hollened to take a 3-1 lead before Bradley, who reached on an error, scored on a double off the fence by Addie Thompson (Hamilton).
The Wildcats took advantage of a two-out error to push across a run in the top of the sixth, but Carleigh Mills (Corinth) thwarted the come-from-behind dreams of the visitor with a three up, three down seventh inning to notch the complete game victory.
Mills gave up one run, unearned, after scattering five hits, walking one and hitting a batter while striking out four batters to improve to 10-1 on the season.
Thompson and Bre Harford (Southaven) each had a pair of hits. The Indians only managed six hits in the victory.
ICC improved to 23-4 overall and 8-2 in conference play. Pearl River fell to 15-12 and 5-7 inside the conference after getting swept in Fulton.
The Indians will travel to Clarksdale to take on Coahoma Community College (0-16, 0-8 MACJC) on Tuesday.
