FULTON, MS – Freshman Courtney Roberts has been voted Week 11's MACJC Player of the Week when the league announced its winners on Tuesday.
Roberts (Hatley) went 11-for-18 with 14 RBI, 4 runs, 2 doubles, 3 triples, 1 homerun and stole 2 bases in five games last week to help lead the Lady Indians to victories over East Mississippi Community College and Jackson State Community College (TN).
In game one against East Mississippi Tuesday, Roberts went 2-for-4 driving in one run and stealing one base, before erupting in game two with a 3-for-4, 5 RBI, 2 triple, 1 homerun performance. Roberts' offensive explosion propelled the Lady Indians to the sweep over the MACJC North Division Lady Lions.
Less than 24 hours after her 5 RBI performance in Scooba, Roberts picked up 5 more RBIs in game one against Jackson State (TN) on Wednesday with another 3-for-4 outing highlighted by a two run scoring double in the fourth. In game two, Roberts ripped her third triples of the week, driving in 1 run while going 2-for-4 at the plate.
On Thursday, the Lady Indians wrapped up the week with a makeup game against East Mississippi. The Lady Lions held Roberts to only one hit in the contest, but that was a run scoring double to help the Lady Indians complete the 8-0 run-rule victory. Roberts also drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the game.
Roberts earned Co-Player of the Week earlier this season in week one.
Roberts has been nominated for the NJCAA National Player of the Week honors to be announced later this week.
