FULTON, MS – Freshman Katlin McDuffy (Iuka) made the most of her first ever collegiate start by throwing a perfect game in a 20-0 run-rule victory over Coahoma Community College on Tuesday.
McDuffy (1-0) struck out four of the nine batters faced while only allowing one ball out of the infield in the three-inning win.
ICC (16-6, 8-1 MACJC North) used a pair of two-out rallies to plate five runs in the first inning before adding 15 runs in the second.
Maddy Lukens (Saltillo) went three-for-three to drive in four runs while scoring three more and Katelynn Downey (Liberty, MO) went two-for-two with a walk to cap off a stellar six-for-six day at the dish.
Arriann Henry (Ecru) went three-for-three with two RBI and three runs scored while Courtney Roberts (Hatley), Katrina Wilson (Oxford), and Sheneria Tyes (Baldwyn) each added a pair of hits to the Lady Indians' 16-hit performance.
Combined with Cassidy Hardy's (Gordo, AL) perfect game in the first game of the day, McDuffy complete the first back-to-back perfect games since 2011 when Chelsea Lukens' (Saltillo) and Laura Mitchell's (Mooreville) perfect outings against Arkansas Baptist College.
Fulton's Nita Spencer, a student aid assistant on the Fulton Campus and an ICC staff member for three years, threw out the first pitch as part of the Lady Indians' Breast Cancer Awareness Series. She was diagnosed with stage two breast cancer in September of 2007 and is a seven-year survivor.
The Lady Indians will travel to Northwest Mississippi Community College (10-2, 6-0 MACJC North) for a battle for the top spot in the North starting at 2:00 p.m. in Senatobia.
