Cold bats, late error doom Lady Indians in Game 1 loss to Calhoun

DECATUR, AL - Cold bats and an untimely error doomed the Lady Indians in their 4-2 loss in the first game of the day against Calhoun Community College.
Calhoun scored two runs on an error in the bottom of the sixth to take a 4-2 lead over the Lady Indians. Taylor Thornton (Carrollton) singled in the top of the seventh, but was left stranded allowing the Lady Warhawks to pick up the win.
Maddy Lukens (Saltillo) scored on a single by Laken Shankle (Bruce) and Thornton scored on a wild pitch to tie the game, 2-2, in the fifth after Calhoun took a 2-0 lead on a two-run home run by Shelby Miller in the third.
Thornton went 2-for-3 with a pair of sing les and a run scored while Cassidy Hardy (Gordo, AL) fell to 4-2 in the loss.
