
Lady Indians rally to defeat Holmes 2-0

GOODMAN, MS – The Itawamba Community College Lady Indians manufactured two runs in the final inning to capture a 2-0 MACJC North Division win over the Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs.
Sophomore Laken Shankle (Bruce) and freshman Katrina Wilson (Oxford) combined for four of the Lady Indians six hits but none bigger than the two singles they hit in the final inning that lead to the games only runs.
Shankle began the rally with a single up the middle and was moved into scoring position by a Taylor Thornton (Carrollton) sacrifice bunt. With one out Wilson ripped a single to center to score Shankle for the game's first run. Wilson advanced to second on the throw home. A sacrifice fly to deep right field by Katelynn Downey (Liberty, MO) allowed Wilson to score from second.
The Lady Indians held a 2-0 lead, but an error in the bottom of the seventh gave the Lady Bulldogs life. With the tying run at the plate the Lady Indians were able to turn a 6-4-3 double play to end kill the Lady Bulldogs rally attempt and pick up the victory.
Sophomore pitcher Hannah Johnson (Branson, MO) threw a complete game while allowing only three hits to improve to 7-1, while Holmes' Kassey Ard, who also went the distance, suffered her second loss due to the Lady Indians final inning rally.
