Lady Indians run-rule rivals in division opener, 13-3

BOONEVILLE, MS - Despite having six players bench due to violating team rules, ICC opened MACJC North Division play with a 13-3 run-rule victory in five innings aginst rival Northeast on Saturday.
The Lady Indians (8-4, 1-0 MACJC North) broke open a scoreless contest with a four-run third inning highlighted by two-run singles by Kaitlin Bradley (New Hope) and Hannah Johnson (Branson, MO).
Haley Moore (Booneville) got things rolling in the fourth inning on a double to left-center with Bradley and Autumn Bonner (Fayette, AL) each pushing across a run before Taylor Thornton (Carrollton), who led off the inning, drove in a pair of runs on a two-out single to left.
ICC added three more runs in the fifth on a two-run double by Arriann Henry (Ecru) and a single by Thornton to plate Katelynn Downey (Liberty, MO).
Northeast (2-4-1, 0-1 MACJC North) rallied to plate three runs in the bottom of the fifth before Johnson induced the final out of the game on a groundout to improve to 5-1 on the year.
The Lady Indians churned out 15 hits with Bradley and Thornton connecting for three knocks each while Henry added a pair of doubles and Johnson helped her own cause by driving in two runs on two singles in the win.
Johnson gave up three runs, all earned, on seven hits and one walk while striking out one in five innings of work.
