
Eight ICC softball players selected to All-North Division teams

FULTON, MS – The Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) announced the 2013 All-North Division Softball Teams and Itawamba Community College was represented with eight of its players earning postseason honors.
Sophomore pitcher Rebecca Sloan (Oneonta, AL) earned MACJC North Division Best Pitcher after finishing the regular season with a 14-4 record and a 1.83 ERA to go along with one save, 13 complete games, four shutouts and single-season record 104 strikeouts in 118.1 innings of work.
Sloan earned All-North Division honorable mention honors as a freshman.
Sophomore outfielder Jessi Patterson (Nettleton) was named to the First Team after batting .331 with .397 on-base and .598 slugging percentages in her final season at ICC. Her 9 home runs and 35 RBI led the team and she finished the regular season tied for a team-high 46 hits with 7 going for doubles.
Patterson was named North Division Best Offensive Player and also garnered MACJC All-State, National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-Region 23 and NJCAA All-American honors as a freshman.
Sophomore catcher Anna Holley (Columbus) also landed a spot on the First Team after batting .275 with a .350 on-base percentage and .363 slugging percentage. She had 30 hits with 6 doubles with 17 RBI and only struck out 5 times in 109 at-bats.
Holley was named MACJC All-North second team as a catcher as a freshman at ICC.
Sophomore shortstop Kami Roberts (Smithville) and freshman first baseman Emilee Henderson (Burnsville) garnered Second Team honors.
Roberts finished the regular season with a .311 batting average to go along with her .375 on-base and .420 slugging percentages. She had 37 hits with 7 doubles, 1 triple and two home runs to total 13 RBI while only striking out 6 times in 119 at-bats. Roberts earned MACJC All-North First Team and MACJC All-State honors as a freshman in Fulton.
Henderson finished her first season in the red and blue leading the Lady Indians in batting average (.387), on-base percentage (.425), total hits (46), triples (2) while finishing second in slugging percentage (.588) and home runs (4).
A trio of freshmen were named to the All-North Division honorable mention list in pitcher Montana Hawkins (Sulligent, AL), second baseman Catherine Carver (Hernando) and third baseman Kory Watterson (Nesbit).
The Lady Indians (31-15-1; 18-6 MACJC North) won their second-straight MACJC North Division title to advance to the MACJC State Tournament as one of the top two seeds for the sixth-straight season and make the program's fourth NJCAA Region 23 tournament appearance.
