MERIDIAN, MS – Less than 24 hours after battling a top five ranked opponent, the No. 20 Itawamba Community College men's tennis program faced the No. 13 Marion Military Institute Tigers.

The Indians (0-2) fought toe-to-toe with the Tigers but fell just short losing 5-4.

Austin McElwain (Corinth) and Cody Coins (Millington, TN) won their singles matches out right, but two of their teammates would battle in tiebreakers.

Drew Ballard (Tupelo) and Mark Robbins (New Albany) saw their matches go into tie breakers. Robbins fell just two points short in the 10-point tie breaker to loss 7-5, 2-6, 10-8, while Ballard rallied to pick up a 7-6 (5), 6-3 victoy.

In doubles action,
Nathaniel Pinkney (Southaven) and Coins picked up a 9-8 (4) win but the four wins wouldn't be enough to pull off the upset.

The Indians will face their first MACJC opponent on Tuesday, February 24 in Booneville at 2 p.m.
