FULTON, MS – No. 14 East Mississippi rallied to plate five late runs to pick up the 9-6 game two win and the sweep over Itawamba Community College Tuesday.
The Indians (15-15, 9-13) plated five runs in the fourth inning to take a 6-4 lead over the nationally ranked Lions, but were unable to fend off their late charge.
Sophomore Tanner Poole (Amory) tied the contest with a two run scoring double and Hayden Williams (Amory) put the Indians on top with a single to left that drove in Poole. Timothy Rowe (Hernando) scored Williams with a single to center.
However, the lead would be short lived as the Lions plated three runs in the fifth to regain the lead. The Lions would add two insurance runs in the seventh-inning to give them the 9-6 victory.
The Indians look to end their five game skid Tuesday, April 21 when they travel to Decatur to take on East Central Community College. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
