SUMMIT, MS – Southwest Mississippi Community College scored early and often to capture game two, 5-1 and the sweep over Itawamba Community College on Saturday.
The Bears plated three runs in the first three innings off three hits to take the early lead over the Indians.
After seeing the deficit grow to 5-0, the Indians (15-13, 9-11 MACJC) strung together three hits to score their lone run on a RBI single by Timothy Rowe (Hernando) in the sixth.
Rowe did all he could do with his bat and his arm in the contest as he threw two and a third, allowing only one hit and striking out three. However, the gap was too much for the Indians to make up, giving the Bears the win and the sweep.
The Indians will return to Roy Cresap Field on Tuesday as they look to end their three game skid against nationally ranked East Mississippi. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
