CLARKSDALE, MS – The Itawamba Community College Indians rallied from a five run deficit to force extra innings, but fell in the tenth when a bases loaded passed ball allowed two runs to score and hand the Coahoma Community College Tigers a 9-8 victory.
The Indians (12-9, 6-7 MACJC) fell behind in the opening frame as Coahoma plated five runs on five hits, but they fought back to chip away at the big Tiger advantage.
Sophomore Tanner Poole (Amory) led the charge for the Indians with three RBIs on three hits as he singled in the sixth, eight and tenth innings.
The Indians tied the contest on a Brayden Owen (Tupelo) single in the eighth and with neither squad having any luck in the ninth, the game headed into extra innings.
In the top of the tenth, the Indians took their first lead of the game when Poole drove in his third and final run on a single to left. Timothy Rowe (Hernando) then drove in Drake Rowton (Marion, AR) for an insurance run on a fielder's choice.
With a two run lead, the Indians picked up two quick outs but an error in centerfield on a fly ball allowing one run to score and keep the Tigers alive. Back-to-back walks loaded the bases for Coahoma and they were able to take advantage of a passed ball to score two runs and pick up the walk off win.
TJ Watson (Dallas, GA) was hit with the loss and falls to 3-4 on the year.
