
Indians defeat Meridian behind Nick Burns' one hitter

MERIDIAN, MS – Freshman Nick Burns (Manatchie) threw six and one third innings before giving up a hit to lead the Itawamba Community College Indians to a 6-0 win over Meridian Community College on Tuesday.
In his second start of the season, Burns dominated the Eagles' lineup allowing one hit, while striking out 2 and walking three to improve to 1-1 this season.
Despite, the no hitter being broken up in the final frame, the Indians gave Burns plenty of run support to pick up the victory.
The Indians (8-8, 2-6 MACJC) got run productions for five different hitters highlighted by a two run double by Cody Young (Collierville, TN) in the tribes four run fifth. Brayden Owen (Tupelo) and Drake Rowton (Marion, AR) added run scoring singles in the frame.
Freshman Timothy Rowe (Hernando) gave the Indians the lead in the fourth with his run scoring single and sophomore Russ Johnson (Hatley), who finished 2-for-3, homered in the seventh to finish off the Eagles.
The Indians will host No. 17 Northwest Mississippi Community College Wednesday. First pitch for game one against the Rangers is scheduled for 3 p.m.
