McCalmon, a 2007 graduate of Tishomingo County, was a freshman reserve guard playing behind All-American Anthony Brock on the Indians’ 30-4 Mississippi Association of Community and Junior College (MACJC) 2007-08 state championship team that finished the season ranked No. 5 in the nation.
Point guard Quintin Lee (Ripley, TN) signed a National Letter of Intent to play for Southern Arkansas University while center Tre’ Wells (Tuscaloosa, AL) signed to take his game to the University of Arkansas at Monticello.
“We are extremely excited about the final day of our Summer League,” said Pate. “We’ve already had a lot of great games and Thursday is shaping up to be another stellar lineup of games for fans to come enjoy all day long.”

“This is one of the highlights of our summer,” said ICC head basketball coach Grant Pate. “You get to see a lot of great group talented players and coaches along with getting to watch a lot of great basketball throughout the day.”
The 2003 graduate of Amory High School started every game during his two seasons (2003-04; 04-05) for the Indians under former ICC basketball coach Marty Cooper.

I’ve had them since they were in the ninth grade and ever since we’ve had them they’ve always been willing to work hard… we’ve had a lot of success with them. On the men’s side, the Indians will recognize four sophomores, Deontaye Ewing of Tupelo, Parris Jeans of Mooreville, Quintin Lee of Ripley, TN and Tre’ Wells of Tuscaloosa, AL. Manager Damion Miller of Tupelo will also be honored in pre-game activities Thursday night.
“Deontaye and Quintin played one of their best games as a unit all season,” said ICC head coach Grant Pate. “Both fed off each other all night long and did a great job willing us to victory by crashing the boards, combining for 11 assists on top of leading us in scoring.”
“Deontaye came to practice this week with a refuse-to-lose attitude,” said ICC head coach Grant Pate. “It’s been a frustrating for him and the rest of the guys, but tonight you could just see in his eyes he was going to do whatever it took to get us back on the winning side of things.”

Sophomore Deontaye Ewing’s potential game-tying three-pointer rattled out as time expired on the Itawamba Community College Indians 73-70 loss to the Mississippi Delta Community College Trojans on Thursday.
Sophomore Quintin Lee scored a season-high 22 points, but the Itawamba Community College Indians dropped their fourth-straight game after a 84-66 loss to the East Mississippi Community College Lions on Tuesday.
Sophomore Deontaye Ewing (Tupelo) scored a team-high 23 points in the Itawamba Community College Indians’ 92-88 North Division loss to Northwest Mississippi Community College on Saturday.
Sophomore Deontaye Ewing (Tupelo) scored a team-high 14 as the Indians struggled from the floor in a 71-41 road loss to the Holmes Community College Bulldogs on Thursday.
“I thought Quintin really stepped up as a leader tonight,” said Pate. “With Deontaye somehow picking up three fouls in the first 90 seconds of the game we really needed someone to step up and like a true sophomore Q did that for us.”
Sophomore Deontaye Ewing (Tupelo) and freshman Johnthan McGee (Jackson) each scored a team-high 14 points while the Indians held Arkansas Baptist College to 20 points in the second half to pick up their third-straight win behind a 88-57 victory.
Deontaye Ewing scored a game-high 23 points with 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals while Johnthan McGee added 15 points and 11 rebounds for his first collegiate double-double performance.
“This was a big win especially coming off a loss like we had on Monday,” said ICC head coach Grant Pate. “I was proud to see how the guys shook off the loss and came back focused on getting a win over a team that put it on us pretty good earlier in the year.”
Itawamba Community College suffered a heartbreaking 69-67 loss to Coahoma Community College in the final seconds of Monday night’s North Division match up.
Itawamba Community College forced Northeast Mississippi Community College into 23 turnovers in the Indians 68-64 win to open North Division play on Thursday.
“The bottom fell out on us,” said Pate. “I’ve never seen anything like that. They switched their style of pressure on us and it really seemed to catch the guys by surprise. Before we could regroup, one guy got hot and then another and another.”
Itawamba Community College overcame a five-point halftime deficit to pick up their third-straight win of the year with an 80-77 overtime victory over East Central Community College on Saturday.
