FULTON, MS – A pair All-Stars from the Itawamba Community College men's basketball team will be taking their talents to the state of Arkansas next season.
Point guard Quintin Lee (Ripley, TN) signed a National Letter of Intent to play for Southern Arkansas University while center Tre' Wells (Tuscaloosa, AL) signed to take his game to the University of Arkansas at Monticello.
Lee averaged 10.7 points, 4.1 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game while shooting 47.7 percent from the floor and connecting on 40 percent of his three-point attempts to earn a spot on the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) North Division All-Star team.
"It feels real good to sign with Southern Arkansas because I've finally been able to achieve one of my biggest goals of furthering my career on to the next level," Lee commented. "I've had a lot of great and fun times and made a lot of memories here at ICC… Coach Grant Pate and Coach (Marty Cooper) Coop taught me so much to be able to take to the next level with me."
Wells averaged 6.3 points and 4.4 rebounds per game while shooting 59.1 percent from the floor and an impressive 53.8 percent from three to join Lee on the MACJC North Division All-Star squad. He earned MACJC Player of the Week in the final week of the regular season after turning in career-high performance in scoring (18) rebounds (15), assists (3) and blocks (3) in the Indians' 78-57 road victory over Mississippi Delta.
"It's feels pretty good to know that I can take my game to another level, but also education wise because I can further my education through basketball," said Wells. "I really enjoyed my time here with Coach Cooper and Coach Pate. They really taught me a lot, taught me how to be a man and helped me grow up… I'm glad I came [to ICC] to be an Indian."
Southern Arkansas and the University of Arkansas at Monticello are members of the Great American Conference.
