FULTON, MS – Sophomore Deontaye Ewing (Tupelo) and freshman Johnthan McGee (Jackson) each scored a team-high 14 points while the Indians held Arkansas Baptist College to 20 points in the second half to pick up their third-straight win behind a 88-57 victory on Tuesday.
"Arkansas Baptist is a very physical and aggressive team," said first-year ICC head coach Grant Pate. "I think it kind of knocked us back on our heels at the start of the game, but we were able to keep our composure and really step our game defensively in the second half to be able to get the win.
Sophomore point guard Quintin Lee (Ripley, TN) added 13 points while freshman Jacques Johnson (Jackson) added 10 points in the win.
"Quintin is starting to take on more of a scoring role that we need him to do for us to be successful this season, but he is still creating scoring opportunities for his teammates," Pate commented. "I thought Jacq did a great job coming off the bench and being a spark for us and hopefully we can get that out of him and some of the other guys a little more consistently throughout the rest of the season."
Freshman Tory Rice (Starkville) collected a game-high 11 rebounds while scoring 8 points for the Indians.
"Tory is really starting to get comfortable and confident playing on this level," said Pate. "I think the speed and the physicality of the game was more than he was expecting, but instead of being intimidated he has really worked hard to keep improving from week to week."
Joshua Tarver led Buffalo players scoring in double figures with 17 points in the loss.
