Itawamba Community College head football coach Jon Williams announced Wednesday’s football tryouts have been postponed due to poor field conditions from rain earlier in the week and threat of more inclement weather.

“The rest of the country is buzzing about Darius’ performance at the combine, but we knew from the first day he stepped on campus that he possessed the talent, the desire and dedication that it takes to be one of the nation’s elite players,” said ICC head football coach Jon Williams. “We are extremely proud of Darius and his performance at the combine, but we are even more proud to be able to call him a part of the ICC Family.”
“This is something that I would really like to represent my country in,” Williams commented. “I’m going for 1,000 at nationals. I would have tried it this weekend, but they didn’t bring enough weight.”

The former defensive lineman for Itawamba Community College and Mississippi State realizes a dream on Sunday when he takes the field at the Superdome in New Orleans, La., for the Super Bowl as a member of the Baltimore Ravens.
“This is a big day for our program,” said Williams. “It’s the first of five or six guys that are planning to sign during the early signing period and having a pair of quality guys signing with a program like West Virginia speaks volumes for where our football program is headed.”
The two-time Pro Bowl selection recorded 407 tackles (297 solo), 22 sacks and one interception in his 11 seasons with the Dolphins. He was chosen as the 20th pick of the 1994 NFL draft and later that season named the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year by the Associated Press.
