FULTON, MS – Freshman quarterback Griff Loftis (Mooreville) and freshman placekicker Tyler Jackson (Oxford) each earned Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) Player of the Week honors for their performances in Itawamba Community College's 24-23 victory over then No. 3 East Mississippi Community College on Saturday.
"We are very proud of Griff and Tyler for earning these honors," said ICC head football coach Jon Williams. "They both played well and were critical to our success in the game and we are certainly glad we will have both these guys back next season."
Loftis connected on 24-of-37 passing for 323 yards and two touchdowns with one interception, including completing seven-straight passes on the Indians' final drive of the game to set up the game-winning field goal. He also had one carry for nine yards on third-and-six play to keep a drive alive that set up the Indians' first touchdown of the game.
"This is a great honor," said Loftis. "I have a lot of great players around me that helped me throughout the season, but it was the way the team played that helped me get this honor this week."
Jackson booted the game-winning and career-long 43-yard field goal into the wind with 16 seconds left in the game while connecting on three-of-three extra point attempts to snap Lions' and NJCAA longest win-streak of 20 games and helped the Indians end the season on a three-game win streak.
"It's an awesome feeling getting this honor," said Jackson. "It was a total team effort that helped me get this honor."
ICC ended the season 6-3 overall and 4-2 in the North Division.
