FULTON, Miss. – The Indians split a conference doubleheader with Meridian on Sophomore Day.
Indians 10, Eagles 0 in 5 innings
Olivia Burns (Grenada) tossed a two-hit shutout in five innings of work to help the Indians pick up a 10-0 win run-rule over the Eagles in Game 1. She had seven strikeouts and did not give up a walk to pick up 19th win of the season.
Samantha Conley (Madeville, La.), Mattie Meine (Olive Branch), and Hope Harbin (Columbus) each had a pair of hits in the Indians' 11-hit performance. Conley and Summer Cryder (Tupelo) had doubles while Meine and Rachel Sternisha (Olive Branch) ripped triples.
Conley, Harbin, and Sternisha each had a pair of RBI in the win.
Eagles 2, Indians 0
The Indians' batts disappeared in the second game of the series and the Eagles snuck out of Fulton with a 2-0 upset win in Game 2. ICC managed six hits in the contest, but couldn't come up with the timely hits needed with runners in scoring position.
Jessica Davis (Cumberland) had a double in the loss.
Up next for the Indians will be the regular season finale at Southwest Mississippi on Sunday.
